Choosing to be Present is the Decision

Choosing to be Present is the Decision

Daily writing prompt
Describe a decision you made in the past that helped you learn or grow.

Nowadays, it’s so easy to be overwhelmed by the mistakes of the past and the demands of the future.

Every time I’m faced with a challenge, I have a choice to be present and persevere through it or be stuck by analysis paralysis (being unable to take action due to overthinking a problem).

Feeling stuck because I’m scared to make a decision gets me nowhere. The best thing that I can do is pray about the solution and move forward knowing that whatever decision I make, I am guided by God who cares for me, provides for me, and protects me.

That said, consulting God before a decision doesn’t mean that I will always make the right decision – sometimes I don’t follow . I am bound to make mistakes at some point in this lifetime. In valuing the present moment, I’ve learned when I make a mistake, I can offer myself grace then learn how not to make that same mistake again.

The present moment involves perspective. It’s impossible to truly value the present moment without acknowledging how past actions lead up to this moment. Additionally, being in the present moment, you know that every action taken will have an impact on the future. It’s good practice to be aware of the past and future, but not to be a slave to it.

Learning how to be in the present moment absolved many of my problems. The present moment helps me feel like I’m in the presence of God. I know that in this exact moment, I have everything I need to live a purposeful life.

I pray you get to be sober in the present moment today.

With peace,
