To Move Forward, You Need a Renewed Mindset

The way you respond to your life depends completely on your mindset. If you don’t like the way your life feels, change your mindset perspective.

God will renew your mind better than anyone

If you are struggling spiritually with your mind, call on God. God wrote in Ezekiel 11:19 “I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.”

Through your faith in Jesus, God has the power to heal your heart and restore your mind.

Someone planted your mindset – not you

To begin, your mindset is a set of personal beliefs and is a way of thinking that influences your behavior and attitude toward yourself and others (Ricci, 2013, p.4).

When you were first born, you were born with a clean slate – a spongy brain with the basic functions needed to keep you alive like communicating, breathing, eating, peeing and pooping.

At that time, you were way too young to form your own thoughts outside of feelings of safety.

The environment and people who raised you gave you your thoughts, language, and behavior.

Somebody planted your mind; whether it be your parents, teachers, friends, or God, your original thoughts are not your own. Embracing this perspective allows you to take back ownership of your mind and plant what you want in there.

Because how you think is heavily influenced by the people you come from, some of their thoughts might be the thoughts stopping you from succeeding. Not necessarily your own.

Choose to have a Growth Mindset

When trying to accomplish something new, you may get caught up in the stream of thoughts basically telling you “you can’t do it.” That discouraging voice in your head can be fixated on the negative and anxious side of life.

Fortunately, having a growth mindset silences that discouraging, little voice in your head and brings you to being optimistic.

This mindset is focused on growth. It doesn’t matter if you’re born with the most strength, intelligence, resources, or whatever else you think you need to succeed. Focusing on having a growth mindset realizes that your success depends on dedication of time, effort, and energy.

Understand that growth is a process

Without a doubt, you can choose to keep growing and getting better. There is no endpoint when you are focused on growing. It’s an ongoing process.

Understanding that growth is a process acknowledges that your success will take time. There are a series of actions completed before moving forward to the next step. Hence, this is the process of learning.

You can not learn advanced skills if you don’t acquire the basic skills that build the foundation. Consequently, every action is a new learning opportunity.

Adopt the ‘Failure is the Best Teacher’ Mindset

Undeniably, failure is the BEST teacher. You learn more from your mistakes than from your success. Learning how to embrace failure is a decision that will improve the quality of your life.

Failure is NOT final.

In fact, the moment you decide to quit learning is the only final point. There are so many benefits to failing. For example, every time you fail, you find out what doesn’t work. You know not to repeat what didn’t work in the past and you’re getting closer what will work.

It’s like the process of elimination. You get closer and closer every time you fail. Don’t give up!
