Believing that God is the Creator of All provides direction, clarity, and peace.

Imagine being lost in the 1400s, and electronics, specifically the GPS, have yet to be created. There are no maps, no science course to teach you how to read the direction of light and shadows, it’s gloomy and dark, but you’re stuck in the wilderness for ten days…what do you do? How do you find your way? How do you know where you’ve been? Where are you headed?
Do you just give up and wait to perish in the wilderness from lack of shelter, food, and water, or do you find help?
Being lost in an unfamiliar place fuels anxious thoughts and fear you never knew you could have. Your heart races, your thoughts are screaming loud inside your head, and it’s hard to calm down. It’s like you’re distracted by everything that crosses your path, you think it’s a way out, but it’s too dark for you to really see the full view. You blindly followed whatever you saw and continuously reached a dead end.
This scenario does not only apply to being physically lost but spiritually lost as well.
In this post, we discuss:
- What it means to be spiritually lost
- Jesus’ parable of the lost sheep
- How to find your way out of being lost
I feel lost, what is happening?
You’re just “living the American Dream,” drifting through life, not feeling emotions, being unmotivated, losing sleep, feeling helpless, hopeless, alone in a crowded room, lacking purpose but seeking attention…it’s a lot coming with feeling lost.
Being spiritually lost is insecurity, a feeling that drives us into unpredictable, ultimately unhealthy behaviors.
Allow me to dig deeper into this statement. To be spiritually lost is to live a life without accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord & Savior. Through faith in Jesus Christ, the ultimate sacrifice for humankind, God promises us the free and secure gift of eternal life.
Eternal life refers to everlasting life in heaven and the fullness (quality and quantity) of life on earth that is neverending. Knowing that you’re automatically blessed with this gift of eternal life brings security.
Imagine experiencing a life where you never have to worry about if you’re going to have enough money, healthy food on your table, a house over your head, a loving community to belong to…
When Jesus Christ came to save all humanity from our own wicked hearts, he died to restore the previously broken covenant with God. Jesus is salvation (the saving from sin and its consequences).
Did Jesus really come back for me?
Yes, he came to bring you back into God’s Kingdom. The Living Word speaks,
10 For the Son of Man[a] came to seek and save those who are lost.”
Luke 19:10
Earlier in the Book of Luke, Jesus tells the parable of the lost sheep.
3 So Jesus told them this story: 4 “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. 6 When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’
Luke 15:3-6
You are his lost sheep, and he’s coming to find you wherever you are. The rest of us are safe and awaiting your safe arrival. Your presence is so valuable. God loves you so much, and he wants you free from all insecurity taking you away from eternal life.
How do I find my way?
The only way to know your destination is to know God. Knowing who God is provides experience in your life that will always lead to more life. To know God is to witness the character of Him, and that is only possible when you know why he sent Jesus to die on the cross in place of us.
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. 7 If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. [c] From now on, you do know him and have seen him!”
John 14:6-7
Develop your relationship with God through accepting that Jesus died to save you. When you believe with faith, you enter God’s Kingdom, where you are forever protected, provided for, and guided along in this life experience.
You have the power to speak life or death over your life. It starts with your beliefs.
